Book Launch: Death in Pretoria by Peter Auf der Heyde. Thurs 21 August at Love Books.
Between 1960 and 1989 more than 130 people were executed for crimes that had a political motive. Who were they? What did they do, and why did they do it? While there were some famous executions like Solomon Mahlangu and John Harris, the vast majority of executed activists remain very much unknown. In person, or later on YouTube.

Photographer David Goldblatt, whose grandparents had fled the persecution of Jews in Lithuania around 1893, was known for his images of life during Apartheid in South Africa. Goldblatt rarely photographed the violence and brutality of the situation, prefering to focus on the subtle injustices of everyday life.
