alsterI'm still not sure if I like the new .sources (ex-.list) file format for apt sources.
It's human readable, yes, but the old one wasn't that complicated and now I always have to remember the right word instead of just the placement.
I have to remember to Uppercase the first letter, put : everywhere after that word and then I have to remember Types, URIs (the I and s specifically, why not URL?), Suites: (WTF? Why not Release? and change to the release number, e.g. 12?), Components, Signed-By (this one's pretty OK, imho).
Old: type of repo, signed-by, url, release, repository in that release.
Also now I can't just purge /etc/apt/sources.list.d/, I have to retain debian.sources all the time or apt removes my system.
I also don't get why this change was necessary, what's the gain?
Taking up some characters more space on disk?
New:
Types: deb
URIs: https://security.debian.org/debian-security
Suites: trixie-security
Components: main non-free-firmware
Signed-By: /usr/share/keyrings/debian-archive-keyring.gpg
Old:
