Incredible interview with Minneapolis city councilman Soren Stevenson who lost an eye to a "rubber" bullet shot at him by MPD during the Goerge Floyd protests.

"Truly, I see this as a moment when we are deciding right here in Minneapolis—in this country—are we going to have a democracy going forward, or are we not? The stakes are no greater and no smaller than that."

He lost an eye in the George Floyd protests. Now he represents the ward where Renée Good was killed.

Meet Minneapolis city council member Soren Stevenson.

Mother Jones
#MNastodon #Minneapolis #CityCouncil I would like very much to have less reason to be somewhat envious of folks living in Jason Chavez’s ward after this election. I had missed the gem of a quote where Jenkins was publicly baffled by 3 Muslim council members not coming to vote…during EID. 😱 Even gladder that I voted early for #SorenStevenson.
#Minneapolis I’ll be damned. #SorenStevenson just won the #Ward8 DFL nomination. Congrats to him and his team! Some thoughts: Andrea J has squandered a whole lot of our goodwill in the last few years and her office’s seeming indifference to ward residents and her saying frankly dumb shit like the “arsenic doesn’t kill people” speech has cost her quite a bit. We haven’t seen anything approaching her best in quite some time so I think it’s time for new leadership.
#minneapolis Ran into a board member for my neighborhood association at lunch and had the obligatory “WTF, Andrea?” convo about our ward representative:City Council Pres. Voting for #SorenStevenson at this point, not so much because I think he’ll win, but because he’s already paying far more attention than she’s paid to her constituency in years. And because I’m aware that arsenic leaching from the soil does in fact kill people. 🤔
