@housepanther I just recently sold my Sony A6400 and all of its lenses and traded up to a #FujiXT30II. I wanted a more manual camera with intense colors, the ability to play with the film simulations, and interchange lenses. I feel it’s an amazing camera and one I’ve already used more than the A6400. I didn’t intend to buy a telephoto until I was at the park and 5 deer showed up. I have a Sony bridge camera, the #SonyRX10MkIV, which is a great all around. I also have 2 compact cameras I switch & carry, mostly for 4K video or for when I want a picture, I don’t have my gear with me, and I’m against using my phone.

I just bought a new camera (#FujiFilm #FujiXT30II). I have 2 Fuji red band lenses: a 10-24mm (15-35mm full frame equivalent), a 16-55mm (24-82mm full frame equivalent, and a Tamron 150-500mm (225-750mm full frame equivalent). In terms of focal range, I’m covered. The non-telephoto lenses are heavy but not much heavier than my #SonyRX10MkIV.

Everywhere I go, I keep seeing “you should buy a prime”, and I just don’t get it. The only advantages for me I see are: a prime lens would be lighter and would be better in low light.

Since the Fuji is mostly manual, I’m very aware of my set focal length, and I’m not one to just stand in one place as I seek out interesting angles for composition. The zooms and primes are close in price, and if I need more bokeh, there’s always photo editing. I don’t want to carry a mountain backpack everywhere I go, depending on what I’m shooting 2 of the lenses will stay at home at any given time.

In 2020, I bought the #SonyA6400, a 10-18mm lens, a 50mm lens, a 70-350mm lens, and a #Laowa 9mm wide angle lens. I found myself neglecting the entire setup. Never used the telephoto or the portrait 50mm lens. I ended up buying a fixed lens DSLR, the #SonyRX10MkIV and all at that A6400 got stuffed into the closet.

Last year, I took both cameras to #Savannah, and was disappointed in them both. The RX10 was heavy and cumbersome; the A6400 failed on the wide angles and all in all it was way too much gear. I’ve since fallen back in love with the RX10 and have a belt holster to make it easy to carry and I’ve loaded it up with film simulations.

#Today I sold all that A6400 gear and am trading it for the #FujiFilm #FujiXT30II with a 16-55mm lens.

What do you guys think? I’d love any input.
