Home again from the frozen North, running in my biome. Springtime hit while I was away, and so I ran in T-shirt early so as to bask in the shade, so to speak.
Home again from the frozen North, running in my biome. Springtime hit while I was away, and so I ran in T-shirt early so as to bask in the shade, so to speak.
That blessed moment when I've been idly noodling on a creative act for weeks, and finally I catch lightning in a bottle – and the words and structure just flow.
I am so, so excited to speak at tomorrow's Trans Day of Visibility event.
Five years and the Petaluma General Plan Advisory Committee is done! About twice as long and twice as many meetings as anticipated.
... Now myself and my former committee members just need to be ambassadors for the plan to make sure it gets passed without getting mangled in the home stretch.
oh god i have to write two speeches this weekend. not presentations, which feel like home, but speeches 😅
in related news, Really Excited for next Tuesday's ACLU NorCal Defend Democracy event in Santa Rosa, and next Saturday's Celebrate Love Trans Day of Visibility event in Petaluma! ✨
I decided to plan my next art show. I will be showing my landscape and plein air work. Here’s the twist: I specifically want this to be held in a public community building like a library or the Finley Center, or local government building. City hall or whatever. Because I really want this to be accessible to the general public, and a gallery sometimes makes people think they have to buy something.
I also think with the way our society is going we need to have community oriented things.
This may be odd because I actually do have a gallery connection and could set up a rental situation again but I can’t help but want this to be different right now.
I’m calling around Sonoma County to see if this could happen.
If we elect Joanna Paun in Sonoma County District 2, and Melanie Bagby in District 4, we will:
- turn the current corrupt majority vote on the Board of Supervisors into a minority
- have 4 women on a board long dominated by men who are sellouts

Lovely to spend the afternoon getting to know fellow library Commissioner Barbara Mackenzie, who represents Rohnert Park!
... Followed by an evening at the Petaluma Library, where Petaluma Indivisible is holding their first public meeting! Great turn out.
Not enough people know:
A single political consultant, Rob Muelrath, is responsible for electing 4 of the 5 members of the Sonoma County Board of Supervisors (all but Coursey).
And that consultant is ALSO a govt affairs consultant, who trades on influence over his electeds for the benefit of his business clients.
Something smell rotten? Let's elect better people who aren't captured or corrupted by people like Muelrath.
First meeting as Commissioner Riley in the bag!
Apparently by Library Commission standards it was a rough one — 3 hours long. Thankfully my expectations have been anchored by City Council meetings 😂 This was fine.
Immediately apparent that I will sometimes be taking unpopular positions, but that is occasionally the right thing to do.
At least I get an honorific for my troubles 😅
