On a family trip to a wedding in Sonoma County California, I finally got to see something I have always wanted to see- the Redwood forests.

Since a child, I have always been fascinated with rainforests. This one collects its moisture from the fog rolling in off of the Pacific Ocean which provide water for an entire ecosystem below. The moss an mushrooms were in no short supply and there were numerous traces of fires from just 5 years ago.

These smaller fires actually help the redwood trees regrow and clear out the underbrush. The big trees have a bunch of fire resistant properties.
The immense, ancient trees make you feel tiny as you walk through the peaceful forest.

Yes I hugged a few giant trees and yes, we did stop for wine tasting- all delicious :)

Long run today. There is so much goodness to be wrung out of spending a couple hours running. You cover enough ground to create a sense of wonder in human abilities, and the world snaps into a topology of access as the math of covering ground becomes more evident.

Along the way you might get a chance to stop and frame something that usually is a flash by whilst automobiling.
