If anyone needed more evidence that capitalism isn't working for us, it is this: corporations have given us a stream of expensive, performance-oriented electric cars, while Sono couldn't find a paltry tens of millions to begin producing the car we really need, the Sion. It seats 5 comfortably, has a large *rectangular* cargo space, offers 150 miles range, and captures a nontrivial amount of power from the sun. It uses lithium iron phosphate batteries, which have a longer lifespan than the typical lithium nickel manganese cobalt, and have zero interest in catching on fire. It was poised to sell for roughly €25K. But now it is officially a dead project.
Wishing a state entity could just write the check to start production and then sell them with a subsidy. Or something.
Standard caveat: mass transit beats EV's. But if you must have a car...
