Did you know the image in my mastodon profile header was generated using actual code running in my #gears emulator ?

For this I wrote a romhack, a piece of code that will modify the code in the Sonic 1 Game Gear ROM so that it will display exactly what I need.

The code does three things:

• change the number of lives Sonic has by default
• change the current level selection on game start: this will modify the map shown with the small path.
• change the name of the level that was selected to display (almost) any text I want
