For millions, perhaps billions of reasons as yet unknown, rain has an effect so like silence.
As each and every raindrop plays it's own note, so the orchestra of rainfall voices out in hordes, each voice drowning out the one before, and is drowned out after.
The only thing sadder than this individuality gone, at speeds faster than the crazy rush of thought, is how the laugh dies, in peals and gales and cackles, so soon before being born.
