A ★★★★ review of So This Is Christmas (2023)

[English] What does Santa Claus have to do with Jesus? In the Irish provinces, various people and families are shown preparing for Christmas. They are accompanied by social outsiders with compulsions and strokes of fate: Eating disorders, alcoholism, abuse, loss. What does Christmas mean to these people? For some, it's a blinking binge or strict rules of faith, but for others it's a day full of social constraints. With good editing and pointed music, a story is told that starts out narratively contemplative, but then goes very deep without becoming kitschy. Sad moments alternate with funny punchlines. A documentary that

We have enough resources and food in the world to feed and house every single human being on the planet.
Remember that even at Christmas, THEY CAN BUT THEY WON'T
