Friday Feb 14th was our last day. We went snow hiking from 1600 m to 2100 m towards Col de Buffère. The ascension was very steep and it took us 2 hours and 40 min.

We had a delicious lunch at Refuge de Buffère and then came back down.
When we got out of the restaurant a snow storm hit us. It was 3 times worse than in the video I posted recently and for the first time I didn't regret being overdressed 🥶.

Pics from Wednesday, February 12th.

In the morning we went snow hiking with another couple (1-5). The landscape is absolutely breathtaking!

The kids have been in Nordic skiing school every day except Wednesday afternoon. So we took them to the green skiing path after lunch to see how they were doing. Unfortunately you can't see it from the pics, but they both passed their final Nordic ski test on Friday 🎉⛷️. A 🐻 level for the 6 year-old ("ourson") and the first ⭐ ("première étoile") for the 10 year-old.

Today we went snow hiking from 1600 m to 2100.
Once at the top we had lunch at Refuge Buffère, Vallée de la Clarée, Névache 🇫🇷.

This is a 360° view from the refuge. You can see a small chapel at the end of the video too.

This photo last year shows a group climbing near Mt Blue Sky with obvious avalanche debris just to the right. The most important sign of avalanche risk are ongoing slides.

Whenever you spot debris or see a slide, take extreme caution and consider calling it a day. If you do not have avalanche gear and training, it's an unwise decision to continue.

Have you ever seen similar conditions?
