#smolWeb #geminiProtocol #gopher
In a lot of discussions of the smallweb/indieweb movements as well as other open protocols like Gemini and Gopher I keep seeing a consistent attitude against Javascript and CSS. JS makes sense given its bloat and privacy issues, but why CSS? It's just style, on a separate sheet. Style is part of HTML. CSS just makes it more convenient. Why is it so wrong to spend a few extra bytes to make your HTML look nice?
@dammn I think you'll find that people moving to these protocols are doing so in part to distance themselves from moneymaking schemes, be they GAFAM or anyone else. Good luck!
Inspired by the Now page concept created by @sivers, I've finally published /now on my #PersonalWebsite! https://bm.gy/now
Had to tweak my #StaticSiteGenerator just a bit to accommodate this unique new post type: The latest post will always be displayed in full at /now, with past entries eventually appearing as a simple list right below it.
That was a fun technical exercise as well as a nice excuse to reflect. Highly recommended!
@gokayburuc One of the first posts in Gemini space I read was a call for the community to write more non-technical stuff on the smallweb. And that's probably very good advice (to attract more non-tech people). I published two cooking recipes so far 😅 and am working on a piece about my hometown. Maybe we should apply that "don't sleep with people who do not have books at home" thing to the smallweb. 😀

My latest rewind is up, where I summarize the blog posts I wrote this month, recommend some entertainment titles worth checking out (including The Pitt and The Studio, among others), and share a few interesting links.
Pelo momento os dados da #lacraia (sem contar o sistema para servir eles) caberiam em disquetes.
