Okay, hive mind…I need a little help! We need to replace our hardwired Nest Protects (smart smoke & CO detectors) in September because Google, in their infinite wisdom 🙄, decided to discontinue this truly top notch product just months before ours turn 10 and stop working. Aaargh!
Does anyone have a hardwired smoke/CO detector — smart or otherwise — that they would recommend?

If you need a #smokedetector #firealarm
DO NOT buy those X-SENSE devices.
1. The do not last as long as they promise
2. If the break you won't get any help
3. If you need replacement, they can not offer replacement that will fit into the same frame you mounted to your wall.

My neighbor seems to have a smoke detector attached to their shed which is close enough to the window where I'm working that the intermittent, high-pitched chirps signifying that the batteries need to be replaced are taking chunks out of my brain matter, one chirp at a time.
I shall soon go mad enough walk over there, knock on their door, and politely let them know about their smoke detector... and that I am dead and quite insane.
I was just woken up by a smoke alarm going off in my house very briefly, maybe three seconds / beeps. It stopped before I could pinpoint the exact smoke detector that had been triggered. Might have been on top floor?
I walked through the whole house and looked & smelled in every room, and found no sign of smoke. I also checked outside on both sides of the house, since the windows were open, and didn't notice anything weird outdoors.
What the fuck? What do I do now?
