I believe #smartmontools can be used to check how much data has been written to a drive. This is helpful to run when receiving a "new" drive for validation purposes. Is there something similar for #eMMC? Unfortunately it appears that smartmontools does not work with emmc. :(
I've never been fond of #JMicron #USB bridges! #SATA or #NVMe! (#ASMedia ain't much better?)
It's just a pain in the rear to pull #SMART reports off the drive!
NO, i friggen DO NOT WANT TO fumble around with "-d", and quirks, and shiz!
Tools on friggen #Windows (#CrystalDiskInfo) CAN DO it, so SHOULD smartmontools on #Linux, automatically!
(back in the 480mbps USB 2.0 days - things were BETTER - current #Linux code hasn't caught up)
…or is it #Firmware?
Unexpected Christmas present: today I discovered `update-smart-drivedb`
My main hard disk drive started crying for help through new errors reported by #smartmontools. I decided to look into the problems and wrote down the whole process of healing the #btrfs disk:

If you use btrfs file systems on GNU/Linux, this may be interesting for you.
