#SheilaE in TivolE was leuk.

@kevbob Absolutely funktastic, top notch performance, love it.

‘I'm livin' livin' livin' life with all its ups and downs
I'm givin' givin' givin' love and smiling at the frowns
You're in trouble when you find it's hard for you to smile
A simple song might make it better for a little while

Let me hear you say
Yaa, ya-ya, ya ya’

Sly & The Family Stone - Sing a Simple Song (Alternate Mix)

19K views · 8.7K reactions | By the time Sly Stone wrote “Everyday People,” he was wrestling with a world that didn’t look like the one he imagined for his band. It was 1968. The country was fraying, and Sly—feeling pressure from Epic for a follow-up to “Dance To The Music,” and leading a multiracial, co-ed band, turned inward. He’d watched radio playlists for years and noticed how black and white artists were kept in separate lanes. With the Family Stone, he was determined to erase those lines. “Everyday People” was borne out of that vision: a pared-back, almost nursery-rhyme-simple anthem tracked at Pacific High Recording in San Francisco. Written and produced by Sly, he stripped away complexity until only the essentials remained, and insisted that everyone sing on the track. The message was simple but radical: no one better, no one lesser, and unity is not a theory but an act. Released months before Stand! hit stores, “Everyday People” became the band’s first No. 1, on both, the R&B and Hot 100 chart, where it remained for four weeks.  A gentle rebellion at the height of cultural upheaval, “Everyday People” was a blueprint—for the band, for pop music, and for a country still struggling to become the place Sly insisted it could be.
