@nev I saw slugs mating once: the whole hanging on their slime on a wall, twisting around each other, holes in the heads where they pierced each other. Were they leopard slugs? Or just related?
Anyway it looked gross and yet more passionate than any couple in the movie.

That was something. There were oddly bits that made sense. Like the local government grappling with the problem, not a bunch of kids with a hole in the yard. The slugs were as disgusting as they should be.
Why didn't they try shovelling road salt into the sewers? Does a movie gotta blow up shit, it what?
