Slow pace Sunday afternoon at Narabigaoka. Perfect weather, neither cold neither hot. A bit windy. The top of the third hill is naked and offers a nice view on Arashiyama on the left and the mont Jouju on the right. There are always butterflies here resting on the ground. I wonder if they are sunbathing, or if the ground here contains something special that attracts them. The fence on the left protects the entrance of a tumulus right below my feet. The Narabigaoka hills contain several of them, and they are also known to be the place where some famous scholar decided to live in reclusion. It's a nice place for a short walk, very easy level, easy enough for a child while hard enough to give him a little sense of adventure. Easy access from Hanazono station.
