Slipknot has officially announced the full physical release of their previously unreleased experimental album, ‘Look Outside Your Window’, nearly two decades after it was recorded. Originally created during the recording sessions for their 2008 album ‘All Hope Is Gone’, the project was kept separate from their main studio work and has only now been made widely available. The album saw a limited release on Record Store Day in April, but from 12th June fans can purchase it in various physical formats, including uniquely coloured LPs such as a blue transparent leaf-filled edition limited to 250 copies, a clear purple LP limited to 500, and a bubblegum variant limited to 1000. There will also be silver nugget and golden pearl 12-inch versions, alongside a general eco black LP and digipak CD. The album, described by the band as highly experimental, features sounds ranging from drum loops and abstract guitar to ambient noises like frogs and crickets, with Cristina Scabbia of Lacuna Coil contributing to several tracks. Slipknot members emphasised that the album diverges from their traditional style, reflecting a purely creative exploration. NME awarded it four stars, noting its eerie atmosphere and the unique ‘Slipknot fear factor’ even without their characteristic masks. Fans can now experience this long-awaited cult classic that has been a topic of speculation since 2019.
