🤯After the earlier cold snap and brief heatwave, perhaps because of the recent rain and more typical seasonal temperatures, there has been a burst of slime mould activity at Strumpshaw Fen.

I have a backlog of posts to write up – so it could be a while before I get to this burst of activity ☹️

Based on previous observations and a possible identifying feature (a distinctive columella plate) – I think this is Stemonitis flavogenita.

Fuligo septica has made it's return to the woodland at RSPB Strumpshaw Fen.

This small aethalium was being checked out by a woodlouse.

I’m currently working through a backlog of winter finds — starting with this one.

From late December to February, I had the wonderful opportunity to track a Badhamia utricularis slime mould from active plasmodium, to sporulation, sporangia and dehiscence 🤯

Fuligo septica is beautiful, and the common name 'dog vomit' does not do it justice!

Fleur de Tan is good or the literal translation – bark flower. It's also called scrambled egg slime mould but it's only really like scrambled egg at the stage before jerzone's wonderful photo where the plasmodium is consolidating towards becoming an aethalium.

Here's one at that scrambled egg stage that I found at RSPB Strumpshaw Fen last August.
