A quotation from Douglas Adams

SLARTIBARTFAST: I’d far rather be happy than right any day.
ARTHUR: And are you?
SLARTIBARTFAST: No, that’s where it all falls down, of course.
ARTHUR: Pity, It sounded like quite a good lifestyle otherwise.

As we know, Slartibartfast designed and specialised in fjords, having won an award for Norway. If I could tell him something today,
I would express my sincere thankfullness for Gandsfjorden in Stavanger. Of course also Sørfjorden in Hardanger and Sognefjorden, but they are already loved by millions of tourists so I think my local fjord earn some love too. Last summer killer whales were spotted here - not by me alas. But as this is my local cycle road to work, I have not given up hope seeing them.
Anyway, there should be an official Slartibartfast-feast in Norway, it would look very different here without him!

SLARTIBARTFAST: Perhaps I’m old and tired, but I always think that the chances of finding out what really is going on are so absurdly remote that the only thing to do is say hang the sense of it and just keep yourself occupied.

@MissConstrue
And torches.

Orthogonally, Norway is rich and I gather happy because* the State has ownership or a share of their oil business.

Other States have sovereign wealth of one sort or another.

Some use it to provide benefits, or dividends, to their citizens. Others to kill their neighbours and inhabitants, it isn't a panacea.

* There are other reasons, fjords and so on, which were briefly fashionable and given a continent a lovely feel. #Slartibartfast

Another morning of hot-weather landscaping. I'm breaking concrete pavers into flagstones.

I smack them with a hammer aiming for specific shapes…

"Madagascar. I need Madagascar"
*Whack*
"Shit - Texas. Damn."
"Australia, Australia c'mon"
*Smack*
"Crap - Galapagos. Ugh"

This must be how #Slartibartfast felt.

#SLARTIBARTFAST:
Earthman, it is sometimes hard to follow your mode of speech. Remember I have been asleep inside this planet of Magrathea for five-million years and know little of these early Sixties sitcoms of which you speak.

@fj

Even though there was no camera on the stream showing the rocket as it landed and exploded we were treated to an earth-shaking and picturesque view of the fjords.

#Slartibartfast (designer of planets) would be so proud of these gates.

[Wikipedia:] His favourite part of the job is creating coastlines, the most notable of which are the fjords found on the coast of Norway on planet Earth, for which he won an award. While trapped on prehistoric Earth, Arthur Dent and Ford Prefect see Slartibartfast's signature deep inside a glacier in ancient Norway.
