Really enjoy watching Rebelzize Skyblivion gamedev/playtesting livestreams.Totally romanticize having a passion project for the weekends - and having a community around it that you can nurture. Of course I well understand that it is hard core during the weekends; it is a huge privilege to be able to do so besides a full-time job and whatever else life brings you.

[P] Corporatism is a cancer that's infected video games. It's why I prefer much older games and indies, smaller teams making more resonable games. It's why I also prefer smaller mod projects. I think being corporate is a poison that ruins video games. And Skyblivion has been poisoned in this way. It's being managed as a corporate project, soulless and bland, and fun/passion isn't allowed. I just really hope Skywind does better. But I have worries.

[P] I look at projects like Ruby Rebalanced for Halo 1 and 2, and those are great! Smaller projects by smaller teams, with loads of transparency. The goal is passion and to make something good. It isn't to be a soulless corporation doing crunch and cranking out marketing for those CVs/resumes. I've become distrustful of big modding projects for this reason. It leaves me worried for SkyWind, that they might be too corporate aswell. I hope not.

[P] There are plac3s where it looks worse than Oblivion, and MUCH worse than mods for the original game. You can see this whenever they livestream, and areas/angles/viewpoints not shown in the trailers can be seen. And they look barren. It's a project made as a trailer engine, rather than as a game. There are so many parallels beteeen Skyblivion and corporate modern game design, and it's why I prefer smaller mods. Co4poratising ruins modding.

And from what I've heard, it's gotten worse since then. It's being run like a corporation for those CVa/resumes. There's just so many people exhausted by the crunch and chronic mismanagement, with Rebelzize pushing to market it inatead of make it. And that hurts the project. A lot of the media is faked up with bullshots—and not all of those look especially good.

[P] They need to push it way back, and lock into an older version of the game that their programmers can actually work with. The reason Skywind looks so good is because the leadership there is far more competent; They locked in with a version, and they're taking however much time is needed to properly finish. The Fallout London project showed that locking in with an older version is both a valid option and the right choice. Skyblivion's kind of a mess.
