“Io mi spacco la testa”. Scena surreale questa vista in diretta tv a Sky Sport mercoledì sera, quando nel commentare il post partita di Champions League, Paolo Di Canio ha cominciato a dare testate al tavolo dello studio Sky. L’ex attaccante italiano – oggi opinionista – ha reagito così a una domanda di Federica Masolin. “Quando le nostre squadre di Serie A potranno arrivare al livello della Premier League?”, chiede la conduttrice. Di Canio ha prima chiesto a Federica Masolin se intendesse provocarlo o se si trattasse soltanto di un tentativo di intimidazione. “Vuoi farmi intristire?”, chiede l’ex attaccante. Poi impazzisce, prendendo più volte a testate il tavolo tra alcuni sorrisi d’imbarazzo degli ospiti in studio, parecchio stupiti per l’accaduto.
“Tu mi hai provocato e io mi spacco la testa“, la frase di Di Canio tra le risate della conduttrice e di Fabio Capello, che si era alzato chiedendo “ma cosa hai fatto“, porgendogli un fazzoletto. Poi Di Canio ha ammesso: “Me so fatto male… me so fatto male davvero”, ha esclamato l’ex Lazio toccandosi la fronte. “Mamma che bernoccolo“, ha concluso Di Canio. Infine, l’abbraccio tra i due a chiudere un momento inaspettato e per questo surreale.
La scena per dinamica è stata simile a quella accaduta nella stagione 2016/2017 quando Luciano Spallettti – in quel momento allenatore della Roma – prese a testate il tavolo durante una domanda in conferenza stampa prima di rispondere al giornalista: “Chi ti ha mandato? Dimmi chi ti ha mandato, dimmi per chi vieni. Cosa vuole dire ambiente? Vuoi tornare a fare la stessa manfrina ‘Qui non si può lavorare?'”.

“I’m pulling my hair out.” This surreal scene during a live TV broadcast on Sky Sport Wednesday evening, when commenting on the post-match Champions League discussion, Paolo Di Canio began hitting the Sky studio table. The former Italian striker – now a commentator – reacted this way to a question from Federica Masolin. “When will our Serie A teams reach the level of the Premier League?” the host asks. Di Canio first asked Federica Masolin if she was trying to provoke him or if it was simply an intimidation attempt. “Are you trying to make me sad?” the former striker asks. Then he loses it, repeatedly hitting the table with several amused smiles from the studio guests, quite surprised by the incident. “You provoked me and I’m pulling my hair out,” Di Canio’s words among the laughter of the host and Fabio Capello, who stood up asking “what did you do,” offering him a handkerchief. Then Di Canio admitted: “I’ve hurt myself… I’ve really hurt myself,” exclaimed the former Lazio player touching his forehead. “What a stupid bump,” concluded Di Canio. Finally, the embrace between the two closed an unexpected and therefore surreal moment.

The scene was similar to that which occurred in the 2016/2017 season when Luciano Spalletti – at that time coach of Roma – hit the table during a question at a press conference before answering the journalist: “Who sent you? Tell me who sent you, tell me for whom you come. What does the environment want? Do you want to return to doing the same old tricks ‘You can’t work here?'”.

“Io me ne vado con un sorriso triste, diciamo così”. In questa frase c’è tutta la malinconia di Alessandro Del Piero, che in poche parole ha sottolineato il confronto impietoso tra il calcio italiano e lo spettacolo a cui abbiamo assistito nei quarti di finale di Champions League. Il discorso non riguarda solo la Nazionale, fuori dai Mondiali per la terza volta di fila, ma anche i club di Serie A: la differenza tra Napoli-Milan di lunedì sera e Real Madrid-Bayern Monaco solo 24 ore dopo racconta di due categorie differenti.

Poi le sue considerazioni più malinconico sul calcio italiano: “Pensare che siamo un filino lontani, noi italiani con le nostre squadre, dispiace: non siamo presenti in questa Champions League e non siamo ancora a questi livelli“, ha spiegato l’ex leggenda della Juventus. Che proprio su Real-Bayern ha aggiunto: “È stato uno spot per il calcio, spettacolare. Sono due società che negli anni hanno costruito una consistenza e una continuità impressionanti”. Quindi Del Piero ha concluso: “Un bel sorriso perché ho vissuto una serata meravigliosa, con un filo di tristezza, ma anche con la speranza di arrivare, magari il prima possibile, a questi livelli di spettacolo e di calcio che abbiamo visto stasera”. Dopo la disfatta della nazionale italiana di Calcio per la qualificazione ai mondiali, sfumata dopo la sfida persa contro la Bosnia ai rigori, si comincia a pensare al futuro. Non solo quello dirigenziale, che potrebbe vedere le dimissioni del presidente Figc Gravina, ma anche sportivo. Gattuso resterà ad allenare gli azzurri? Nella conferenza stampa post-match aveva detto che si sarebbe preso le proprie responsabilità e quindi è subito partito il toto-allenatore attorno ai papabili per la casacca da Ct. 
Secondo Sky sport, per ora in pole position siedono Antonio Conte, che attualmente allena il Napoli nel campionato di Serie A, e Massimiliano Allegri che invece detiene la panchina del Milan. Dalle retrovie, però, si vocifera anche di un ritorno di Roberto Mancini che trainò la nazionale verso la vittoria agli Europei del 2020. Una scelta, questa, che però pare meno probabile per via dei dissapori sorti dopo la scelta del Ct di andare ad allenare l'Arabia Saudita.
Per un Italia stufa di vedere l'ennesimo mondiale da casa, i nomi che circolano nella piazza sono quelli di grandi allenatori che possano offrire una garanzia. A patto che la stessa garanzia derivi anche da una squadra di giocatori che, si presume, verrà ricostruita.

Sarà infatti l’ennesimo weekend con l’Italia protagonista in varie discipline: lo è stata in mattinata con il secondo successo consecutivo in Formula 1 di Andrea Kimi Antonelli, lo sarà in serata con il tennis e poi con la MotoGp, con i vari Bezzecchi, Bagnaia e Di Giannantonio impegnati nel gp di Austin, negli Stati Uniti. Un weekend che può regalare altre soddisfazioni ai colori azzurri, ormai competitivi in tantissimi sport.
Due settimane fa era stato Jannik Sinner a fargli i complimenti dopo il successo in Cina di Kimi Antonelli, che riportò l’Italia sul gradino più alto del podio in Formula 1 a distanza di 20 anni. Un messaggio che Antonelli aveva rivelato già in un’intervista post vittoria in Cina, apprezzando il gesto dell’amico tennista.
