A route absolutely perfect for a hand-flown Cessna 172.

At the destination, there was strangely a King Air just sitting there alongside the gravel runway, I've no idea what it was doing there ;-)

Juneau International PAJN → Skagway PAGY

Today I was able to fly in camouflage. The paint job of the Baron matched some of the landscape along the way exactly ;-) (see the third image)

There wasn't much room for the approach in Skagway: I had to fly into the rather narrow valley and make a 180-degree turn there in order to land on Runway 20.

A few more impressions from the ride over the White Pass & Yukon Route railway yesterday. A masterpiece of civil engineering. At White Pass, the summit of the line, we cross the Canada 🇨🇦 United States 🇺🇸 border, marked by a border stone, and the steep descent into the port city of #Skagway begins.

Today a train ride over the breathtakingly scenic White Pass & Yukon Route, from #Carcross, Yukon, 🇨🇦 to #Skagway, Alaska 🇺🇸. A pair of “shovelnose” diesels is hauling the train. And there’s a viewing platform at the rear, very much to the photographer’s (and the railfan’s) delight.
