Agi: Tennis, Errani-Paolini sconfitte nella finale del doppio a Miami

AGI - Sfuma il primo titolo del 2026 per Sara Errani e Jasmine Paolini, sconfitte nella finale del "Miami Open", quarto Wta 1000 stagionale dotato di un montepremi complessivo di 9.411.725 dollari che si è concluso sul cemento dell'impianto dell'Hard Rock Stadium, in Florida.
Nella loro prima finale della stagione le due azzurre (entrambe al numero 5 del ranking di specialità), prime favorite del seeding, sono state battute - come già successo nella semifinale di Indian Wells - dalla coppia numero due del tabellone, quella formata dalla ceca Katerina Siniakova e dalla statunitense Taylor Townsend (n.2 e n. 7 in doppio) per 7-6(0) 6-1.
Finale fortemente condizionata dalla pioggia
Gli organizzatori sono stati costretti a sospendere il match sul 6-5 per Siniakova/Townsend ed Errani al servizio avanti 40-0, facendolo riprendere dopo quasi tre ore. Per Siniakowa e Townsend e' "Sunshine Double" avendo vinto anche a Indian Wells.

AGI - The first title of 2026 slips away for Sara Errani and Jasmine Paolini, defeated in the final of the “Miami Open,” the fourth WTA 1000 tournament of the season with a total prize pool of $9,411,725 that concluded on the Hard Rock Stadium concrete in Florida.

In their first final of the season, the two Italian players (both ranked number 5 in the specialty ranking), the top seeded favorites, were defeated – as had already happened in the Indian Wells semi-final – by the number two pairing, consisting of Czech Katerina Siniakova and American Taylor Townsend (ranked number 2 and 7 in doubles) by a score of 7-6(0) 6-1.

Final strongly influenced by rain

The organizers were forced to suspend the match at 6-5 for Siniakova/Townsend and Errani at the service, 40-0, restarting it after almost three hours. For Siniakowa and Townsend it is a “Sunshine Double” having also won in Indian Wells.
