Judas Priest became famous for Rob Halford's compelling vocals and intense screaming, Glenn Tipton and K.K. Downing’s dazzling and dueling guitar work, and the sterling rhythm section of bassist Ian Hill and a number of different drummers—most notably Dave Holland in the 1980s and Scott Travis, who has occupied that seat for the last 35 years. Priest have often crossed over into different genres, even taking risky moves like the poppy Turbo album with its synth guitars, but they like to push themselves forward. The following seven cuts represent the band’s sound in more diverse ways than their most well-known songs.

Drum Legend SIMON PHILLIPS Reflects On Recording JUDAS PRIEST's Sin After Sin Album - "It Was Amazing; I Was 19 At The Time" (Video)

VRP Rocks has shared an interview clip featuring drum legend Simon Phillips, who shares how a Deep Purple legend got him involved with the Judas Priest, which led to him playing drums on their Sin After Sin album. Simon also discusses why he decided not to stay with the band...
10/n
Sin After Sin is a remarkable Judas Priest ablum. Not only does it contain two slow numbers, but also two covers (Diamonds and Rust, Race with the Devil).
The tempo has been picked up a notch and the guitars are heavy. This might be Priest's first "pure" heavy metal album.
#SinAfterSin is great, but not a masterpiece (to me).
Hence 4 out of 5 horny little Robs (read his biography!)
Ranking
1. Sad Wings of Destiny 4,5
2. Sin After Sin 4
3. Rocka Rolla 3
8/n
Interesting how you'll always discover something new each time you revisit albums on a #Metaljourney
For example:
Let Us Prey / Call for the Priest starts as a Queen song that turns into a Deep Purple song only to become a Judas Priest song with Motörhead like drums. And with the Metal God. Great fast number!

Album number 3 on my Judas Priest #Metaljourney was already hinted in a song on Sad Wings (do you know which one?).
Released only 1 year after SWOD in 1977, the guitars sound even more heavy and there's more Rob Halford trademark shrieks.
The album is of course Sin After Sin, and it starts with a fast paced number called...

How fitting that Rob called his autobiography "Confess".
