Hey Fedi, I'm looking for a way to record *both* the desktop audio and the sound from the microphone when doing a screencast. My usual tool for the job, #SimpleScreenRecorder, while awesomely lightweight, sadly can't record both streams at the same time (at least not without some ugly hacks that do not necessarily work all the time [1]). So what do you recommend?

I'm looking for something light and fast to produce the footage (so no gtkRecordMyDesktop which renders everything after), configurable to record multiple audio sources (command-line options are OK) and ideally with a record-pause function / hotkey so I don't have to edit the stream afterwards.

What I found so far was #kazam [2], which correctly seems to capture both audio sources and the video, but doesn't pause.

What else do you suggest?

Screen recording on #KDE / #KDEneon is just fine, via the built-in PrtScr keyboard button.

you get a big red STOP icon in your KDE "systray" (notification area).

#Wayland on #Linux ain't a big bother anymore. 😅

Addendum: stick to the default VP9/WEBM setting, for now - if you NEED MP4, you'll avoid weird recording jitters, by transcoding it manually. My life is easier, now - i don't need #SimpleScreenRecorder anymore.

Which one do you prefer? I use OBS but I also like the cursor highlight option of vokoscreenNG.
Sad to see SimpleScreenRecorder project being inactive with no Wayland support though.

My animated lowpoly guts want to digest you!

Modifiers: Simple deform (adds a nasty extra tilt), Array, Decimate (unnerving geometry shifts during animation), and an Armature. It's two bendy bones with bone envelopes (so no vertex painting necessary here).

The R, R rotation style gives the worm-like behavior, I have to turn that into keyframes somehow though.

Recorded with #SimpleScreenRecorder and compressed into oblivion with #handbrake.
