Good morning. 🦆🪿🦢

5 June 2026

I’m sleepy — just being honest. I could go right back to bed. I keep closing my eyes mid‑sentence. When I was working, there were times I’d nod off while typing and wake up to a long string of random characters on the screen. That’s exactly how I feel right now. Probably time to swallow a good gulp of coffee.

Hmm… “Gulp of Coffee.” I wonder if that would work as a new name for the Gulf of Mexico. Coffee cultivation is mostly south of the gulf, so maybe it fits. I can almost hear someone saying, “The fleet sails on the Gulp of Coffee.” I’m just throwing it out there — imaginary names for the Gulf of Mexico seem to be all the rage these days.

My first cup of coffee is almost gone now, and I’m finally starting to become alert. It reminds me of some of the truly horrid, stupid, silly jokes I heard in the Army — the kind that, for reasons still unknown to me, actually got a laugh. Jokes like, “What is a lert? Is it a small furry animal?” Ridiculous, I know. It doesn’t even come close to being a logical, well‑crafted joke. More like something a kid would come up with. It all came from “alerts” being those big periodic events where units get recalled.

And here’s another one: “What kind of animal is a Nauga?” You know — the creature that supposedly provides “nauga hide.” It was a play on Naugahyde, that vinyl‑coated artificial leather that was popular in the 20th century. Like I said, a lot of our jokes were painfully lame, but somehow we still found them hilarious.

And bingo — just like that, I hit my character quota for the morning.

Chasing the quiet moments when the sky turns into a pastel canvas. 🌆✨ There’s something incredibly calming about watching the day fade into soft pinks and lavenders behind the winter branches. Just taking a second to breathe it all in.
