Keine Pendler in der U-Bahnstation am Samstag Mittag. Stattdessen kleine Gruppen entspannter Menschen und überall kleine Geschichten wie die der beiden jungen Männer ganz links. Das Foto funktioniert auf dem Smartphone eher nicht und vielleicht ganz generell nicht gut auf Social Media. Aber sei es drum. Mein Problem mit dem Foto ist nur technischer Natur: dank ISO 5000 wirkt alles etwas flach. Blende 2,8 statt 4 hätte genauso gereicht wie 1/60s statt 1/125s. Zwei Blendenstufen mehr Licht – bei ISO 1250 hätte das Foto deutlich mehr Details und Dynamikumfang gehabt.

No commuters in the subway station on Saturday noon. Instead, small groups of relaxed people and little stories everywhere, like the one about the two young men on the far left. The photo doesn't really work on a smartphone and perhaps doesn't work well on social media in general. But so be it. My problem with the photo is purely technical: thanks to ISO 5000, everything looks a bit flat. An aperture of 2.8 instead of 4 would have been just as good as 1/60s instead of 1/125s. Two f-stops more light – at ISO 1250, the photo would have had significantly more detail and dynamic range.

Setz das Objektiv direkt auf die Glasscheibe, dann hast du keine störenden Reflexionen. Viel Spaß dann mit der Bearbeitung, falls du weitwinklig fotografierst und durch Neigung der Scheibe und/oder außermittigen Standpunkt nicht in der Flucht bist. Die Korrektur der perspektivische Verzerrung war hier ziemlich aufwändig und das Ergebnis ist nicht perfekt – schaut auf die Schwellen im Vordergrund. In den meisten Fällen reichte die Fotos-App von iOS bisher dafür aus – hier kam sie an ihre Grenzen.

Place the lens directly on the glass pane to avoid annoying reflections. Have fun editing if you're shooting with a wide angle and are not in alignment due to the tilt of the pane and/or off-center position. Correcting the perspective distortion was quite time-consuming here, and the result is not perfect—take a look at the railroad ties in the foreground. In most cases, the iOS Photos app has been sufficient for this task, but here it reached its limits.

Nach dem stehenden U-Bahnzug gibt es heute einen Hochgeschwindigkeitszug in Fahrt. So schnell war er allerdings nicht: 1/15s reichte aber, um zumindest im vorderen Teil ausreichend Bewegungsunschärfe zu bekommen. Ich habe mit dem Ultraweitwinkel im Querformat gerade den Bahnsteig entlang fotografiert – so verläuft die Bildebene parallel zu den Querlinien der Fliesen und diese bleiben im Bild waagerecht. Später habe ich einen hochformatigen Ausschnitt gewählt – damit ist der ganze unruhige Bahnsteig auf der linken Seite des Bildes verschwunden. Der Fluchtpunkt liegt nun nahe am Bildrand und alle Linien führen zu der einzigen übriggebliebenen Person auf dem Bahnsteig. Obwohl sie am Bildrand ist, ist sie doch im Zentrum des Motivs.

After the stationary subway train, there is now a high-speed train in motion. However, it wasn't that fast: 1/15s was enough to get sufficient motion blur, at least in the front part. I photographed along the platform with the ultra-wide angle in landscape format – this way, the image plane runs parallel to the cross lines of the tiles, and they remain horizontal in the image. Later, I chose a portrait format section, which made the entire busy platform on the left side of the image disappear. The vanishing point is now close to the edge of the image, and all lines lead to the only person remaining on the platform. Although she is at the edge of the image, she is still the center of the motif.

An einem Freitagabend im September stand ein Zug mit offenen Wagen und Sitzplätzen auf einem der ungenutzten Mittelgleise des Berliner U-Bahnhofs Deutsche Oper.„Mit dem U-Bahn-Cabrio durch Berlin“ – so bewirbt die BVG die zweistündigen Fahrten durch das Berliner U-Bahnnetz, die hier starten – sicher ein Sightseeing der besonderen Art.

On a Friday evening in September, a train with open carriages and passenger seats stood on one of the unused center tracks at Berlin's Deutsche Oper subway station. “Through Berlin in a cabriolet subway” – this is how the BVG advertises the two-hour trips through Berlin's subway network that start here – certainly a special kind of sightseeing.

Mein Foto zum #FotoMontag entstand vor dem Institut für Anatomie der Universität #Rostock. Eigentlich habe ich beim ersten Regen seit längerem dort auf jemanden mit einem Regenschirm gewartet. Natürlich um noch weitere Kreissegmente ins Bild zu bekommen. Leider hatte ich nicht so viel Glück. Aber auch mit dem Radfahrer bin ich nicht unglücklich. Mal schauen, ob jemand darauf kommt, warum.

My photo for #PhotoMonday was taken in front of the Institute of Anatomy at the University of Rostock. I was actually waiting for someone there with an umbrella during the first rain in a while. To get some more circle segments in the picture, of course. Unfortunately, I wasn't so lucky. But I'm not unhappy with the cyclist either. Let's see if anyone can figure out why.
