Horus Heresy, State of reading: 57 The First Wall (Siege of Terra 3)

First book since the siege began, that I consider a bit weaker. One of the story arcs was disconnected from the other plots, and though I really like the pov from regular humans, this one was too far away from the action, and its twist was killing the narration.

I liked the loyalist parts, because it felt desperate, with small glimpses of hope.

The traitor view though was exhausting, because none of the characters really made progress, beside scratching the walls. They hate the loyalists, the emperor and each other, but that's no news. I am sort of disappointed that no traitor is ever reconsidering his/her side, because there is so much criticism towards their leaders, there should be at least one ... 😅

So I've done it. I've finished all 67 volumes (65 books) of The #HorusHeresy and #SiegeofTerra. It's been a 2 year slog since I started. Glad I did it and glad I finished it. Not sure what to do with my time now but probably read some very different #books!

If Perturabo/Horus had realised how important environmental enrichment is to keep Emperor's Children happy, they would have provided cardboard boxes for Fulgrim to sit in and he would have stayed on Terra, finishing his job.
It may be hard to come by demon-Primarch-sized boxes, but some Rhino-shipping-boxes would have done the trick.
