What is it going to take to get Schumer out as Minority Leader of the US Senate? He caves at every opportunity, and this latest atrocity had 8 Dems not holding the line. Worst part is that the Dems basically got nothing other than egg on their face and an empty promise to address healthcare "later" for their trouble, with no incentive to even have the House present it for a vote.

This debacle has "Schumer off-ramp" written all over it. Don't even need a tinfoil hat to see the fundamental truth of it.

The shutdown has very little to do with the current distribution of power and everything to do with how the US public funding process is deeply and thuroughly broken.

I have not seen any other country close down their airspace and make public workers starve because of political disagreement.

This cannot be fixed through iterative process -- radical reform is required. Congress as a whole is responsible for not doing so.

For shame.
