In general, 2026 has been a bit of a shit year.
In one particular way it has been fantastic though. This is a knockout year for #snowdrop blossom. Seems like every snowdrop colony is really going all out this year. #LittleVictories, I suppose.
Also, in things that brought me joy.
It finally happened. I bought the damn thing before #Covid, but this is the first year my #WinterClematis has actually flowered. It looks gorgeous.
I have just spent the last hour and a half doing battle with that rosebush in my yard that was encroaching on the public path.
I've tried to spare as many of the hips as possible, they look pretty, but can't save them all.
I don't care if it is the wrong time of year to hack back whatever rose group rosa arvensis[sp?] is, but it is now done. And it only drew blood five or six times. Next time, I'm wearing a face shield as well as gauntlet gloves.
Hah, I actually got the bulbs in.
Well, except for the small packet of snakeshead fritillaries that I intend to guerilla plant along a local footpath. Don't worry, they are a UK native.
Now I'm going to have a bottle of cider, some good quality stuff too so no chugging it. Note for Americans, this means hard cider and not apple juice.

Glad #MontyDon has had a glut of squash and courgettes, but the freezing cold temperatures and constant cloud cover in my part of Scotland has meant that mine are only just now starting to set fruit. Been ridiculous this year.
Does anyone else plant a load of spring bulbs and then spend five minutes staring at the ground willing them to just flipping grow? No? #JustMe then?

Do you know what I'm gonna do today? Fuck all.
And I'm gonna have fun doing it.
Tomorrow I shall be sober and go the garden centre to see if the spring bulbs are in yet though.
