I see a novel as 3-4 parts, 48-60 chs, & assign each chapter ballpark headings as I develop the story. For each chapter, I write 6-7 pages (~ 2000 words) assigning each page a topic or one of the characters
I'm told I write too much dialogue (!) and my new theoretical approach is designed to tackle this by giving each page 1 of 3 styles in strict rotation:
direction of travel
stasis
reflection
ZumbadorIf your'e a cis person who REAAAAAAAly dislikes being asked what your pronouns are, that might, just maybe, be a tiny clue that you're not quite as cis as you think you are?
Not always, of course! But something worth examining.
It's one of the reasons I think it's a terrible idea to ask people their pronouns in a public setting like work meetings. If a person is not sure about their gender identity, or trans or nonbinary, but not out in present company you're forcing them to choose between outing themselves, or misgendering themselves.
And as always YOU -- YES THIS MEANS YOU! -- ARE THE ONLY PERSON WHO GETS TO SAY WHO YOU ARE end of story.

Next story's central conflict (after Higher Than Hay Bales) is set in the fall of 2013: Family knows now so do we tell anyone on the team? Nick says sure, Kolya is paranoid like whoah.
Story after that is set at Sochi, I think - I need to resolve NYC team response first.
