U.S. Mass Shooting Data: October 2025 Update

Weekend Incidents:
Three separate shootings at high school-related events in South Carolina and Mississippi resulted in 12 fatalities and approximately 40 injuries over the weekend of October 11-12, 2025.

South Carolina incident: 4 fatalities, 20+ injuries at alumni event

Mississippi incidents: 8 fatalities, 20 injuries at two post-football game shootings

The 2025 total remains below the 2022 peak of 689 mass #shootings.

A University of Colorado Boulder study analyzing 10,000 U.S. adults found:
- 6.7% of respondents witnessed a mass shooting firsthand
- 2% of witnesses sustained injuries
- 75% of uninjured witnesses reported psychological distress
- 50% of incidents occurred within the previous decade
