Anyone wanting to outfit for the next #ShittyCamaraChallenge might want to check out the bargain bin at Glass Key Photo, on Sutter St, SF.
Some of them need work, some seem to be completely fine shape.

A Mastodon (well, maybe a Mammoth) skeleton at the La Brea Tar Pits Museum.
The framing could have been better (would have liked to see the feet) but I didn't have too much choice; I had to prop up the Brownie on a nearby display case.
The exposure came out just right, and I'm pleased with that. I used a light meter app on my phone and an exposure time cheat sheet I carry around, generated by a python script, and the results said I needed a 5sec exposure. I was a bit surprised because it really didn't seem that dark. I guess museums keep the lighting dim to protect artifacts, and your eyes adjust, so you're not aware how little light there really is. Anyway, 5sec (well, 5 Mississippis) turned out to be exactly right. Yay science!
That's all the film shots from this trip that are worth sharing. Next time I am absolutely going to get one of Randy's Donuts.

Hollywood!

It was tricky to get a good shot of the Chinese Theater because there's a big façade of the Roman Colosseum out front for Gladiator II.

The shots in the subway station were long exposures but not long enough. They were underexposed and I've compensated in scanning, but have still lost some detail.

The angles are low because I didn't have a tripod, I just put the camera on a little wooden box I carry in my camera bag, and that on the floor.

The Hollywood & Vine station really is pretty amazing.

Last batch, for now...
Boarding the #LAMTA light rail (formerly Gold Line, now A Line) in Pasadena.

Interior of the glass-domed atrium of the old San Mateo County courthouse, now a history museum.
It looks like I have a double exposure. Or maybe bumped the camera?
I literally laid the camera on the floor to do this one.
I have another attempt at this shot, with the #Duaflex, in the lab right now.

#CalTrain #EMU sunrise. Digitally cropped, there was a bit on the right that was too dark and had nothing interesting.
I think the sun is actually in the shot but I think it was a cloudy day.

An attempt to get a rising sun over a small lake (Lower Emerald Hills Lake, Redwood City, CA). Just up the hill from the house in the last post.
Having the sun in the frame definitely overwhelms everything.
Maybe there's a filter that would help with this sort of thing.#filmisnotdead #filmphotography #bnw #blackandwhite #mediumformat #redwoodcity #redwoodcityca #ShittyCamaraChallenge #120film #kodakbrownie
Next roll of #120film from my #kodakbrownie
This house in Redwood City has been in a perpetual state of dilapidation/half-assed repair for *years*. Maybe it's haunted. Makes a good subject though.
I was puzzled if some how the angle of the telephone pole was due to distortion in my picture, but I checked gmaps street view, and it's really like that.

Giant spider sculpture, build out of a VW beetle body + legs, on US 50; West of Carson City, on the way to Virginia City.
I was here last summer and took a picture that came out with some weird artifacts--it was a *really* hot day in the desert, and some of the markings on the paper backing came through on the film. I think it was due to light leaking in through the little round red-glass window where you see the film counter. Not only was there a *lot* of sunlight that day, but I wasn't in the habit of keeping the camera in a bag, so there was a lot of time for light to be sneaking in.
