The Vargr series by Meraki P. Lyhne is inspired by old Norse legends of wolf shifters, Vargr, and other mythical creatures, living in contemporary Denmark. It all centers on Matt, an American high school student spending his senior year as an exchange student in Denmark, where his mother met his father, who died before Matt was born. Not long after Matt arrives, he discovers that his father isn't dead. He's Vargr, as Matt will be when he comes of age. As Matt becomes part of his father's pack, it becomes increasingly clear that the young man has a powerful "ember," which marks him as a leader with great potential. That becomes all the more important when more and more signs point to a possible conflict with the Vargr's mortal enemies.
