A Montgomery County sheriff's deputy has been indicted in Leon County and terminated from his position for his alleged involvement in a crash that killed another deputy more than a year ago.

Montgomery County deputy indicted, terminated in connection to crash that killed fellow deputy

Deputy James Francis was placed under arrest Thursday and terminated from his job, according to the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office. The crash occurred on Feb. 21, 2024, when Francis and Deputy Charles Rivette were in Leon County transporting an inmate and Rivette died in the collision.
