The entirety of #SheridanCO high school’s student body walked out today to support the teachers because their #union has not been “recognized” by the district since last summer.
EDIT: I’ve been looking for a news outlet that has covered it but I haven’t seen one yet. Sheridan is small but I’m sure #Denver 7 News will cover it

The school district of #SheridanCO said that before contract negotiations could begin, the teachers’ union must permit that “There will be no strike, picketing, picket line observance, … by members of the association which impairs the classroom performance of the members of the association… Any person who engages in such actions may be subject to immediate discharge or other discipline.”

@RebeccaOdegard Stories I’ve heard about the new superintendent are absolutely nothing but awful. No superintendent should lack an educator’s background, let alone be someone who from my perspective appears to be motivated by the promise of fame.
This past summer, the #SheridanCO school district proposed a new contract with the teachers’ union that stripped away essentially all rights of the union to accomplish anything. The union obviously rejected the contract and the district, instead of negotiating with the union, decided to let the existing contract expire and painted the union as unwilling to negotiate.
