And so it was that on Wednesday February 19, 2020, I brought the #ShellingPeas saga to an end. We finally had enough freezing weather nights to knock out the pea vines and I took everything down.

The wire panels are going to be given a new task in the raised bed, and I'd like to see if I can do a legume tripod or two across the yard for spring.

#ShellingPeas after they got snowed on over Sunday night, and the sun melted most of the snow by Monday afternoon, when I took this picture.

Bless their cold-enduring little roots, there were still a few blossoms on the tops. #ColdHardy

@dthompson I have some late-summer planted King Tut Peas (from the UK) that are still alive even though we (Seattle) had weird weather in October that resulted in them not making peas, and I'll be planting them asap this early spring as they have proven to be stunningly cold-hardy. I've tagged those posts #ShellingPeas and you can see how beautiful the flowers are.
The #ShellingPeas are still alive, and it's Jan 7th, but we will most-likely finally get temps that are below freezing at night and around freezing during the day this next coming weekend. I found a couple blossoms near the top of the vines and a lone pod hanging in there. #KingTutPeas
December 24th, it was down in the mid-30sF last night, and I found one single blossom still on those #ShellingPeas.
My #ShellingPeas are still alive and it's Dec 9th. It's clear they aren't going to make beans, but they do get enough daylight to keep the upper vines flowering. Amazing.

The #ShellingPeas are still going! These are those King Tut peas, an heirloom from England.

Our temps this November have ranged from highs around 50F and overnight mostly in the low 40sF. (10C days to 4C nights sort of range)

The #ShellingPeas don't really look like they will get all the way to making functional peas, but they are gorgeous and I'll be glad to plant some again in the spring. #florespondence
I have pods forming on my #ShellingPeas! The King Tut variety is known for making dark purple pods. #edibles #GreenThumb

Took a closer look after the post-noon watering with non-near-freezing water, and found the #ShellingPeas have flowers starting on a lot of vine tops. 😁

I'd heard this variety was partial to cooler weather, but actually seeing that in action is nice.
