"Pushed on until 9 o'clock at night and encamped near the lower end of the Big Lake, as there was no intermediate encampment. #ShawpatinTrail Made today about 60 Miles. Fine in the fore part of the day, but snowing in the afternoon and all night. One of the horses gave out and had to be left.
