#Rabbi #SharonBrous is really amazing. It's fascinating to me how common it is for progressive religious leaders to be some of the most wonderful champions for the advancement of all.

My guess is that it's because they see their religious belief as a foundation upon which to build a just society, instead of as the thing they're trying to build upon society.

They see anyone who is trying to make the world a better place as an ally because a #betterworld is the goal, not a #Jewish world or a #Christian world or a #Muslim world.

I'm betting some of us #progressives could learn a thing or two from this approach. As #Lovett recognizes here, this approach isn't going to always work, we shouldn't be trying it all the time, but we should be open to the humanity of our opponents at all times.
