I may not enjoy using #Fusion360 but i have to admit that it is *amazingly* capable. Also, it's incredible to be able to sit down for an hour or so, and end up with this *incredibly specialized* shape and be able to send it to a printer that will give me a physical version in ~3hrs for ~$2 USD

Side Note: the "loft" capabilities of fusion are SO much better than #Shapr3D

#3DPrinting

Now I'm just demoralized. I don't WANT to recreate all the work #Fusion360 just ate.

I'd go do it in #Shapr3D but I actually need (or at least really want) some of the custom hole generation functionality that Fusion has.

I dunno why the Shapr folks have been completely ignoring the fact that SCREWS EXIST. 😡

I have (re)made a thing in #Fusion360! This will make the next step ( #CAM ) easier.

Literally everything i had to do was easier in #Shapr3D & not just because i know it better.

I still can't figure out how to move the endpoint of a line in a Fusion360 sketch after I've made it. Even when the line has no constraints and isn't touching anything. Everything i try results in either a big "Hah. no 🖕" or the entire sketch getting borked.

Progress! Am slowly figuring out #shapr3d modus operandi.
Sketching with an #applepencilpro + #ipad in #shapr3d is devilishly difficult. What am I missing here?
Damn. Tutorialed with #Shapr3D for 1.5hr now and my little toe tickles like "wanna study mechanical engineering". 😅

Since I use #Shapr3D so often I developed kinda something like muscle memory. Every time when I see a picture of a 3D model I instinctively try to rotate it with my space mouse. 🤦🏻

#3DDesign #CAD

Oh yeah, that's right. #Shapr3D can't import a model from one "project" into another one.

🤦‍♀️

I think the UI interaction stuff on this app is great, but there are some FUNDAMENTAL things that every professional needs that they've been ignoring requests for for YEARS. And yes, they're going after the enterprise market. So… just WTF Shapr?

#3DPrinting #CAD

I had an idea for something I could build to manage the process of emptying and refilling these little spool inserts filled with desiccant beads, because the beads REALLY want to escape and bounce around the floor. It's a nightmare to clean up when they do.

BUT the idea would require threads.

🤬 #Shapr3D STILL doesn't have support for generating threads & expects you to draw them manually after YEARS of requests.

(Yes, I know, Fusion360 can, but i hate fusion)

#3DPrinting #CAD

#Shapr3D has a new generative render mode that works pretty well for making visualizations of a 3D CAD model. I made a short video.

I do find that I'm exceptionally conflicted on these new tools. Privacy, energy, and training data are all problematic. Many people I follow are either all-in or hard-no, and I get those perspectives. Its the middle ground where the tools are used thoughtfully, and not to simply shovel out slop where I find my internal struggle.

Anyway…
