Berta Cáceres was a Honduran activist who fought for the rights of Lenca communities, and other Indigenous communities in Honduras, by tackling environmental issues. In 1993, Cáceres cofounded the Council of Popular and Indigenous Organizations of Honduras (COPINH) to challenge the environmental damage caused by mining, illegal logging & dams.
