Yesterday I finally closed the Tempestarii quest in Warframe and I'm ALL IN for the shanty
Effin' amazing

It is #shanty night at my favourite bar and I have gathered a collection of new (old) songs. We usually have them that picks the song teach the chorus to the group at the start.
Lukey’s Boat is a bit back & forth so I have come up with:
Now in this verse this line is mine,
_A-ha, me boys!_
In this verse this line is mine,
Extend it a bit and then there’s a rhyme,
_A-ha, me boys riddle-i-day!_
_A-ha, me boys riddle-i-day!_
40bln in subsidies for fossil by this tiny country lining the pockets of investors who couldn't care less! 🤤
And the cost tomorrow? 🙈
The problem is not you. It's making energy intensive steel in a place that doesn't have the natural resources to generate it, unlike e.g. Spain or Norway. Such industries have no future here - Namibia is already making solar-based steel today!

Today in Labor History April 23, 2019: The Hpakant jade mine collapsed in Myanmar, killing four miners and two rescuers. Hpakant is the largest jade mine on Earth. Jade pickers are often migrants from other parts of the country. They live in dilapidated shacks and work as “freelancers,” scavenging through the tailings for small pieces of jade. On July 2, 2020, a landslide at the mine killed 174 miners. The landslide was the worst mining disaster in the nation’s history. The value of Myanmar’s jade industry is over $30 billion per year.

Summer Night, Winslow Homer, 1890
haven't been able to keep up with this lately. I wish it was because I was having a good time, but it's not that.
This painting is wonderful. I think it instantly describes a safe and relaxed moment, maybe a feeling of comfortable community and a break from toil. They didn't have portable radios in those days, they must have been dancing to the music of the waves and the moonlight. Singing a favorite song, maybe even a "sea shanty" 😁 🌊 🌕 ⛵ 👯 ❤️

And I would watch it on my phone.
And I would watch it in my home.
And I will watch it here and there.
Say, I will watch it anywhere!
I do so like these shanty songs!
Thank you! Thank you, Longest Johns!

A friend put me onto Alestorm lately: https://alestorm.bandcamp.com/album/the-thunderfist-chronicles
This is dumb, and niche, and way over-the-top, and it's absolutely perfect. There aren't many artists that can hit the right balance between being too stupid and too smart (Explorers of the Internet comes to mind), but it's always incredible to see it in action. My favourite kind of music will always be the kind where you can tell talented artists were able to create without any compromises.
