Happy #ShamelessPlug Day!
Finding myself in need of #PiDay apparel ("ap-π-rel"?) for an event or two, I've added a couple of pi-related t-shirt designs to my Etsy shop: http://inspiredbymath.etsy.com
• "Approximately Pi" demonstrates the near-equality of π and √2+√3 (that is, 3.1415… vs 1.4142…+1.7320…=3.1462…). Note that √2 and √3 appear courtesy of our old friends the 45°-45°-90° and 30°-60°-90° triangles.
• "Powers-of-Pi Pinwheel" features a sequence of iterated involutes of a unit semicircle, each with length π^n/n! . It's the special case (t=π) of Y. S. Chaikovsky's delightful visualization of the power series for sin(t) and cos(t). (Fun Fact: Long ago, I adapted Chaikovsky's construction to tan(t) and sec(t), but cot(t) and csc(t) still remain elusive. https://trigonography.com/?p=881 )
These join two pi-and-tau designs.
