Contemporary art by Irja Čiekča-Schmidt, inspired by traditional noaidi drums, which were also on display at the first-rate world heritage museum at Røros last summer. The drums on display were fascinating, but the most mind-boggling thing was the fact that 1950's researchers made their own interpretation of the symbols on the drums even though the shamans themselves had provided explanations.
Anyway, Røros is such a delightful and amazing place in every way. Situated close to present-day Norwegian/Swedish border, it was subject to constant conflicts and wars, just like that whole mining country. Sometimes it would be Danish and the Swedes came to grab it, sometimes it was the other way round, just like in big parts of today's Sweden. Let's hope today's borders will hold -- the Danish ones not least. (I'm painfully aware that Sapmi borders have been atrociously disrespected for centuries.)

Center of show was music house's huge #organ: impressive sight in itself. Slow start with #ambient "lungs stuff" which developed into loud fat low-hz drone. Then Kimmo tapped his feet to trigger some "beat loop" and went into his #shaman mode (best part!). Latter half more organ oriented and liturgical, ending w/quiet "lungs". 1h well spent!
