Researchers find unbalanced infant sex ratios reflecting preference for male children between 1969-2018 among U.S. births to parents of Chinese and Asian Indian descent, and to Filipino and Japanese mothers with less than a high school education. Infant sex ratios are more balanced when both parents are college educated. Results suggest higher education in the United States increases the value of daughters relative to sons.
