More progress on the double helix baby quilt.
I tested a ruler foot and a simple rounded stubby ruler on some practice blocks. My technique isnβt good enough yet for free motion quilting for a gift, but it improved a lot. Would need to set presser foot pressure to 1, stitch length to 0, in addition to dropping feed dogs.
Decided to go with simple straight lines, echoing about 3/8β from the seam lines. I may add diagonals later. Normal settings, stitch length 3.0, using a Sew Steady glider sheet.
I like to roll the sides of the quilt like a scroll inward to give me more grip on the quilt, but also find that rubber-coated work gloves give me almost fingertip control.
Everything seems to be staying put. Working the short horizontal seams first, then vertical, from the center out.
