Francois DionI went for two classics: my Sequential Circuits Six-Trak, my EMU Drumulator, and two fairly recent machines: the Behringer RD9 (Roland TR-909 clone) & the Donner D1.
Picture is from my Korg KR-55 Pro which I didn't use, just to throw everybody off... The D1 is what I used for the breakbeat (it is a sample based drum machine).
I'll have to tackle soon a track with a lot more #drummachine

What I did there, was to record the 808 kick on one channel, the rest of the drums on a stereo pair with a ping pong delay, the bass chords under a ton of reverb and super long phaser on another channel, and finally the lead sounds on another stereo pair. The goal was to create the flows for the drums and the leads by proper timing of adjusting the volume sliders at mastering time down to stereo.

The risers used in this #music #track are #tr909 cymbals, reversed. The only samples i used for this track, but technically that is not 100% correct:
First, the cymbals on the 909 are samples. Roland couldnt get realistic cymbal sounds out of analog circuits (808 cymbals, anyone? As an aside, check out https://pureadmin.qub.ac.uk/ws/portalfiles/portal/125044847/tr_808_cymbal_a_physically_informed_circuit_bendable_digital.pdf) so they used samples. The #drumulator & #sequentialcircuits #drumtraks also use eprom based samples, & i use a few custom eproms in them (with ZIF sockets). #jam #jamuary

In the end i did end up using the #tb303 for my latest #jamuary2025 track, in a dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde dual use. From borderline mysterious #ambient electronic bassist to intransigent #techno screaming banshee, it ended up filling its role perfectly, after sidetracking me for hours. #tb303 #tr606 #adrenalinn #sequentialcircuits #sixtrak #crumar #bit99 #hammond #novachord
