I can’t believe I ever skipped the drama ‘It’s Okay to Not Be Okay’ (2020) because is such a great one! The romance storyline is very unique, but the best thing are the other characters’ storylines. I LOVE the fact that each episode is focused on a fairy tale story, but giving it a dark meaning in the adult life. I was never able to finish ‘Queen of Tears’ but seeing how good Kim Soohyun was in this one, I now want to finish QOT.
#kdrama I do love Korean actresses and I'm getting more and more worried by how thin and unhealthily underweight they are.
#ParkMinYoung in #MarryMyHusband has such thin legs I am truly concerned she may faint at any time.
#SeoYeaJi in #ItSOkNotToBeOkay has the waist of a little girl. Her dresses are awesome in that #kdrama but when they're tight on the waist I can't hide the shock.
The beauty standards changed for men, why aren't they changing for women too?

Hwarang: The Poet Warrior Youth
This watch was even better! The episodes seem 5 minutes long.
I had watched originally for my Park Hyung Sik & Park Seo Joon quests. Now I see so many familiar faces. The acting is top-notch.
For BTS fans, this was V's acting debut & he won an award for Best Idol Actor that year.
I paid much more attention to the music (which I loved before, but now I see the contribution to the story & love that 3 of the actors sang tracks).
Now that I've seen several historicals, I appreciate the costuming here - the details are gorgeous.
Not to mention over the top swashbuckling fighting in silk robes, sweet moments, funny, seasoned actors, & shower scenes.
I think this will continue to be a holiday tradition.

Hwarang: The Poet Warrior Youth
(2016 - Viki, 20 1:00 eps)
For a holiday treat, I rewatched Hwarang (1st watched in March '23 - just 6 months into my kDrama hobby).
I'll put the summary here & my thoughts in a comment because I ran into a character limit.
It's a story of political intrigue. The Queen Mother sends the crown prince into hiding for his safety. He never develops the relationships he needs to take power & doesn't have confidence in his ruling abilities. Through a new group of young warriors (the Hwarang), the future king discovers himself & his abilities. There is a lot of comedy, but the political story takes over the last 3 - 4 episodes. There's bromance & romance. Watching the friendships develop between the Hwarang is one of my favorite things.

It's Okay to Not Be Okay (2020 - Netflix)
Finished my 1st complete re-watch via a great watch party group.
This is a beautiful drama. The costumes, sets and visual story-telling in every scene are breathtaking. The story itself is an insightful commentary on mental health, relationships, and family, all while delivering a chilling mystery yet still having light-hearted and funny moments. I love the use of fairy-tales to allow us to understand the characters better.
On my 1st watch it became one of my favorites. It does contain many kdrama tropes and uses them to take some shortcuts; I can forgive this because healing mental trauma in 16 episodes is impossible IRL. Re-watching it with others gave me new perspectives on every episode. I discovered things I had missed before and saw things through another's experience.
