Human skin's sensory neurons produce a protein called RGMB that stimulates the cells responsible for skin colour. This could lead to new treatments for pigmentation disorders. A novel sequencing technique was also used to study gene expression and function in taste cells. #skin #sensoryneurons #pigmentation https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2022/09/220920115545.htm
Sensory Neurons in Human Skin Play Key Role in Pigmentation

A research group has found that sensory neurons play an important role in human skin pigmentation and physiology. Specifically, the neurons secrete a protein known as Repulsive Guidance Molecule B (RGMB), which stimulates melanocytes (the cells in skin that produce melanin, which is responsible for skin coloration). This study could lead to the development of new drugs to treat pigmentation disorders.
